Wonder if I was one of the necros in your group yesterday, coolsti? Sounds a lot like the party I was with.
What I hate is the one who maps out after verbally abusing the party, usually a monk (sorry if you're one of the 'good' healers). Today we were in Abaddon's Mouth with one live healer and a hench monk. Personally, I did not notice the healer doing much of anything, healing or otherwise. The first set of bosses, Willa the Pissed Off Monk and the randomly spawned one, nearly did us in except for the monk who had held back away from the group. While we were trying to gather our strategy, the monk started complaining that an all hench team was better and we were n00bs, etc. She then mapped out.
Couldn't help it, when I got back to the outpost, I groused off about the monk leaving. She started a little verbal sparring session on the open channel, how we were all stupid, yaddayadda. It ended with my saying that a deserter was still a deserter, regardless. She left and I made a note of her name never to group with her again.
Oddly enough, I regrouped with a team with one live healer and Mhenlo. I was running my blood nec who can help heal (though very limited, I try and the monks who notice seem to appreciate it). We maintained teamwork and won through in the end. And *this* monk was fantastic!!!!

So, instead of letting him know what happened and paying him, you proved him right. You are a scammer.

I am bad in remembering names, but I think you might have been one of the Necros in the mission with me.
Well, I had a similar situation happen last night. Got a friends group together to do the new Tombs, we were me as Ranger, 2 Necros (one minion master, one SS), one fire Elem, one Warrior. Since we didn't want to chance it with human monks who might get ticked off and leave, and since there were more parties looking for monks than there were monks, we signed up the two henchy monks. Then we wanted a Mesmer in the group, and found someone advertising himself as "pro mesmer". Soon as he got into the group, first thing he said was kick the henchy monks. Heh heh, my response was, "why, do you know two monks that want to join us?". He kept on about we should kick the henchies and get real people. Now, we were a friends group that enjoy playing together, and have more of a goal of having fun together than farming for greens, and I was getting a bit afraid that this guy's attitude was not going to mix with the rest of us. So I kicked him rather than the henchy monks. We found another Mesmer who wound up to be more like us in attitude and playing style. We had a great time, and completed the 4 levels with hardly a death among us.
The jerk in this story? Hmmm. Me maybe for kicking the first mesmer that didn't seem to fit into our group? Or maybe that first Mesmer who can't seem to understand that henchies make actually good teammates, and who begin to demand this and that when they get invited into an already established party.
In particular, the henchy Monks in the new Tombs do an excellant job! Only real problem with them is that it is really difficult to stop them from running into an enemy mob to res a fallen ally.

Nah, you weren't a jerk. I think if everyone started kicking people like that, there might be fewer jerks. I hate when someone joins your party and then starts telling you what and how to play, who to kick and what to accept. I always kick 'em too.

coolsti, husband and I have also taken to questing with a set of friends who simply enjoy playing the game. We do missions together if possible or just go out exploring. My then-fledgling monk survived to a great extent thanks to the tutelege and tolerance of these people.
And sometimes those who appear to be jerks aren't on closer examination or can be 're-habilitated'. Recently, in Dragon's Lair, there was a warrior whom I quickly named my 'personal mana sink'. He rushed head long into battle and it took as much attention and energy to keep him healed as it did the rest of the team combined. Come to find out, he hadn't run ahead and gotten Forge armor (so was running with Maguuma and before armor). Once I found that little factoid, the tone became more teasing than grousing because he was giving the team his all and couldn't help being a mana sink (he did start trying to stay teamed with the other tanks better to 'share the pain' after we explained the problem more clearly).
Another warrior, in Ice Caves mission, nearly had me mapping out (an almost unheard of thing for any of my girls to do). The other healer, casters and I would toggle low on energy and he'd run ahead to aggro another group regardless of the request to wait a minute. He paid no attention to the map and approaching enemies while he forged ahead and then complained when he died fighting solo as we were all struggling with the now two groups of pissed off foes. Eventually, he apparently had an epiphany (death can do that to you if it happens frequently enough) and he slowed himself down a bit. After that, we played as a team and were victorious. At the end, I apologized for my own testiness and several thanked me for the healing and for staying the course (a nice warm-fuzzy).

Me and the Wife were on character we had started recently and were at Thirsty River, last mission before ascending (we've done all the characters at least once, some more). So it was a long day and we didn't feel like doing the mission and a group of 2 were advertising doing the mission for 5K. So we go with a group (Monk and a Nec were "running" it). We get to the Monk boss, we pay our 5K each. They die rather quickly along with most of the group and they split. They ignore everyone's attempts at contacting them to refund money or offer to do it again. So later we ended up doing the mission ourselves, but it was just very unprofessional. I won't post the names here or of the guild they are in, but I have posted it on another popular board and in all districts in all towns that day. I was too pissed off to think about screen printing any of it, so I know my options are limited.

Normally, the fee is paid after the monk boss is dead. If you didn't know this, now you do. This is sort of like paying a drok runner at beacon's. Unethical on his part, foolish on your part.

well here's my 2 personal favorites, one just happened last night actually:
The first didn't reply after I asked about his guild, and the second was just some amusement for me when I was getting a run to citadel
(these were just the ones I found amusing and not all the countless scams and jerks in general that I've ran into)

I was looking for a run to Granite Citadel, and I was asking around for one.
Girl: I can run you to Granite Citadel!
Me: Ok lets do it.
Girl: Ok.
We go outside.
Girl: WOAHHHHH! This is too hard. We need 6 more people to do this.
Me: Wait I thought you said you could run it.
Girl: No I said we could fight it!!!
Me: No you said we could run it that's why I invited you.
Girl: GOD YOU ARE SUCH A NOOB!!! NO ONE CAN RUN TO GRANITE CITADEL WITHOUT A FULL PARTY!!!! NOOB!!!!
Me: Well you should have said that later.
Girl: I DID!!!! WTF ARE YOU DOING????
Me: Piss off.
(Ignored and went back into the city.)

Got a couple of live ones today.
As a monk doing Tombs, I'm surprised people are such jackasses.
After two successful runs, my latest group has this ranger who for some reason or other just LOVES making racial slurrs, like "don't be such a fukking jew" and calling me a "fukking chink monk" because I look asian.
I ask him what his problem is, and he simply repies "YOU!", to which I really have no idea what to say, since I've never seen this guy in my entire life.
Anyhow, I've had enough successful runs, I don't need to put up with this, and I make it quite clear that I'll leave if he does it again. So heres the kicker, my team started acting as if I was being the jerk for wanting to leave. So not only do I have to put up with verbal abuse, I'm the bad guy for being upset over it. Thanks for calling me a noob just because I asked for a little respect. Buncha jackasses.
Yeah, words are words, but this is still a game, and theres no reason I should be forced to put up with that kind of crap if I dont want to. So I quit.
The second one was just about a half an hour ago. I join a barrage group, say hi, and check something on my forums. When I check back I notice the leader of the group was asking me something about energy management. Being caught somewhat off-guard and still a bit distracted, my mistake was not really thinking it through and assuming it was a generic question, so in my answer I mentioned Peace and Harmony. So I'm automatically booted off for being a noob who uses PnH in Tombs, despite the fact that I never said that I use it(and I don't). Apparently asking me straight up what build I have is not the elite way of figuring out what I use. So although I tell the guy that I don't use it, and that I misunderstood the question, he's already made up his mind about me, I'm just some noob, and they dont want me.
Oh, but of course thats not the end of it. He of course has to tell me about how he's been playing since beta, how he has 3 different monks(no idea what for), and that he and the whole team are a bunch of awesome rank 7 mofo's with multiple accounts and all that lovely crap you're used to hearing.
Obviously with that simple question he made, which I misunderstood, he has concluded that I have not been playing since beta(I have), I have no rank(I do), and that I only have one account(I have two).
So folks, save everyone the headache, and don't ask stupid questions, and just ask straight up what a players build is. And if you can't do that, don't act like elitist pricks when people misunderstand the question and/or don't give you the magical answer you're looking for. Jumping to conclusions and acting like a douche will only make you look like an asshole.

Had 1 too..
tried to do the desert misison, can't remember wich 1.
it's the 1 with the siege worms...
but we filled a team, and went on..
but when we have to defend the ghost from attackers, almost ALL of the others just stood in the middle of the fight AND the siege attacks.. That won't work obviously :-)
and of course everyone died except me, who ran off a little with dodge, and got back..
when ghost died we got back to town, and this 1 guy started to flame the monks.. (we had 2)..
went something like this:
jerkmg, u f*** noobs.. why didn't u heal or rez ??
me: comon, please don't flame. no point, it was our first try anyway..
jerk: oh, stu u noob too.. didn't rez us..
me: and btw, u didn't think that they might be out of mana? since all of u stood in the middle of the war ??
jerk: shut up !! shut up!! u could rez.
me: oh please. i had to heal ghost, rez all of u, and defend myself? with ranger-mana??
jerk: STFU, i **** your mom.. (this is where i start to laugh very mutch:-) )
me: LOL, your's too !! hehe
jerk: omg, u *** noob ! leave me alone..
me: ok. since u r the pro, what good did u do?? after all u died, i didn't. so explain !!
jerk : "!¤#¤"# "%¤ ¤"#% #"¤ % etc etc..
me: ok. so u can't explain. i guess you're just an angry little kid then..
jerk: AARGH!! (and so on)
me: OK, since u are the PRO player here, why don't u just ignore me??
after that it got silent.. i was laughing my ass off, and sent him a message on pub-chat... that this was totally un-necessary.. after that it was quiet..
but i must say that i have also met the counterpart.
we tried a droknar run too early think i was lvl18 and my friend lvl19) and we asked if anyone else wanted to try. (didn't know how hard it was, just heard about droknar)
filled a group, and 2 lvl 20 rangers joined. We tried atleast 10 times (several hours), and they finally did it (the 2 lvl 20 rangers were the only 1 that had a chance)
we had a great time, they chatted alot, and ran wery well..
they they disaid that dn't want any money, for not guaranteed we got there.
when we finally got to droks, me and my freind wanted to give them 1,5k each, as thx for the help, but NO WAY.. they didn't want any. And even when 1 of them asked for a bow upgrade, he did give me money for it, even though i said it's for free as thanks.. Great people.. Me and my friend agreed : best GW experience we had EVER!
so thanks to you guys. if i'm allowed to post names here, i will

Biggest jerk I met was an good friend of me first until what happened.
We were in Ruined Tombs with a full guild group and I was there as an Orders Necro, now I carry Healing Breeze and Heal Party to back the Healer up a bit when it's needed.
I start casting Orders and I notice that the Healer is not healing me at all. Okay well then I will just cast HB on myself and use Blood Renewal. I ask him why and he says that he is a Boon Healer and he doesn't have the energy to heal me. Right.. well I'll continue to cast the Orders and occasionaly cast HB on myself and Blood Ritual on the monk.
Then we get to the second level and our Ranger gets stuck somewhere. The healer decides that he would stay with the Ranger and the rest of the party presses on.. I as the Order Necro was keepign the MM and the rest of the party alive only because the Healer was being an ass and standing there. I make some comments about it and when he finally gets back he says "You know Shala. It's not that I don't have the energy to heal you, I just don't like healing you". So that did it for me and I cursed at them and left the party + guild.
They had been pulling this shit on me for a while now and that was the last straw.. And then they tell me that I was acting strange and unreasonable.. right!

NOT healing your order/battery necro? What a jerk of a monk, Hailfall. After the MM, YOU would get all my attention. That is in no way cool or in anyone’s best interest. Good on you to have left your guild!
******
So, I had a guildie, a very competent player, who wanted to do Thirsty River. It was late last night, not many other guildies interested/online. But, I said I’d do it because he’d been waiting a while.
Sometimes I get into my little insular world of having a great guild, we do all the missions together and usually do it the same way (the easy way IMO). Always do bonuses for the heck of it. Anyway, sometimes I forget that there are *other* people out there with *other* ideas.
We get into a pug and start. We all agreed—or at least I thought we agreed—to kill the sand giants for morale boost. After the second giant, the warrior starts taking off running for the ghost. Not informed ahead of time that that was what he was going to do, everyone but him are surrounded by Devourers, getting shot and distracted and trapped, etc.
Me: WARRIOR
Him: chill
Cutscene.
Me: we were killing giants jerk
Him: you get 4% at first boss
Him: ur slow
As we all know, bad communication and lack of teamwork at the very very beginning of a mission does not bode well for the rest of the mission. Yes, if we stayed alive we would eventually get morale boost of 10%. I simply prefer to START with the morale boost of 10%. Why not? That’s how we always do it. (<---my insular thinking again) And, that is how I believed we were going to do it.
I left the group, guildie not far behind. He understood why I did that, and agreed we could do it later with other guildies.
[Whispers from Warrior]
Him: you get 4% at first boss
Me: i don’t care – you are a terrible team player
Him: ur slow
Etc etc etc
Him: get some rank nubcake
Him: then tell me i’m not a good team player
(BTW, he was W/R – care to guess how he might have gotten any rank, if he indeed had any?)
Me: thanks for coming and rank means nothing in pve
Him: get some rank
Me: what. ever.
Him: lol
Me: go away
Him: lol
